Set up Vault

Set up Vault when you want a separate place for balances and account changes that deserve two approvals. By the end, Vault will use your passkey, phone approval, and recovery phrase, and it will provide Pocket with a recovery path.

Vault is optional. Once you start, setup is complete only after Cedar creates Vault on every required network and turns on Pocket protection.

Before you begin

Section titled “Before you begin”

You need:

  • Cedar Wallet for iOS on the iPhone you want to use for phone approval
  • the same Cedar account signed in on that phone
  • an active Pocket
  • your current passkey
  • a private, offline place to write the 12-word recovery phrase

Set up Vault

Section titled “Set up Vault”
  1. Open Vault in Cedar Wallet for iOS. Choose Set up Vault, or use the continue action if Cedar shows that setup is already in progress.
  2. At Set up phone approval, review what this iPhone will do, then choose Set up phone approval.
  3. At Recovery phrase, write all 12 words down in order in the private, offline place you prepared. Do not take a screenshot. Choose I wrote it down only after checking your copy.
  4. At Create your Vault, review the setup, choose Create Vault, and complete the passkey and phone approvals. Keep Cedar open while it checks every required network, or return to Activity if confirmation takes longer.
  5. At Turn on Pocket protection, review the recovery change and choose Turn on Pocket protection. Complete the passkey prompt and follow the status until the network confirms it.
  6. When Cedar shows You’re all set, choose Open Vault.

Pocket protection lets Vault help recover Pocket after a safety delay; it does not add a second approval to ordinary Pocket actions. The security model explains that boundary in more detail.

If setup is interrupted, return to Vault and use the continue action Cedar shows, or reopen the existing action from Activity. Cedar skips completed steps and resumes the step already in progress instead of creating a duplicate.

Even after Cedar creates Vault, sends, spending-limit changes, and new Vault app connections remain unavailable until Pocket protection is complete on every required network. If Pocket protection fails or is canceled, start it again. If Cedar is still working or waiting for network confirmation, resume the existing attempt.

Confirm that Vault is ready

Setup is complete when:

  • Cedar shows You’re all set and Open Vault is available.
  • Security shows phone approval as ready.
  • Security shows Pocket protection as ready.
  • Activity has no unfinished Vault-setup or Pocket-protection action.
  • You have a private, offline copy of the recovery phrase.

If any one of these checks is missing, return to Vault setup rather than using Vault for a protected balance.
